Cabin Fever Camping Dreams

With April quickly coming to a close and the Covid-19 moratorium on camping still in place, we thought you might enjoy photos of some of our favorite campsites and camping destinations.  Hopefully they will give you a little hope that you will be out there camping soon and once again become a Master of the Outdoors!

Acadia National Park (ME)

Our fist stop on our cabin fever camping dreams tour is way up in the upper northeast corner of the United States. Acadia National Park is located on Maine’s spectacular coast and has a couple of campgrounds including Blackwoods, Seawall and Schoodic Woods.

Bastendorff Beach County Park (OR)

Jumping back all the way to the other side of the country, Bastendorff Beach County Park is near the quaint town of Charleston, Oregon. It has 100 campsites that are just a short walk to the Pacific Ocean.

Crater Lake National Park (OR)

Crater Lake probably has the most amazing natural blue color you’ll ever see. The park also has two nice campgrounds including Mazama and Lost Creek. Other campgrounds in the area include Rogue Elk, Hamaker and Farewell Bend.

Yellowstone National Park (WY & MT)

With is amazing geology, scenery, rivers, lakes, creeks and wildlife, Yellowstone should be on the top of just about everyones cabin fever camping dreams list. The massive park has 12 developed campgrounds and most are first-come, first-serve. There’s also several lodges available within the park.

Valley of Fire State Park (NV)

Located about 90 minutes from Vegas is a wonderland of bright red Aztec sandstone formations and two really cool campgrounds (except in the summer). Arch Rock and Atlatl Rock are both first come first serve. They are open year-round and amenities include water, flush toilet, showers and a dump station. Atlatl Rock also has 22 sites with electric hookups.

Bryce Canyon National Park (UT)

Bryce Canyon National Park features the largest collection of hoodoos in the world. Hiking is popular and photo opportunities are endless. The park also has two nice campgrounds – Sunset (99 sites) and North (103 sites).

Zion National Park (UT)

Zion is another of Utah’s incredible National Parks and includes 229 square miles of spectacular scenery. Visitors can enjoy hiking, backpacking, river rafting, climbing, canyoneering, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. South and Watchman campgrounds are popular and fill up fast.

Grand Canyon National Park (AZ)

Sure you can camp up on the rim at Mather, Desert View or North Rim, but wouldn’t you rather backpack down to the river and spend a night or two at Bright Angel campground (pictured below)?  Indian Garden is also another (in-canyon) campground you may want to check out.

Great Sand Dunes National Park (CO)

This is one of our favorite photographs and is of two brave hikers strolling through the sand dunes in a windstorm. The park features the tallest dunes in North America and they are spread out over 30 square miles. Pinion Flats campground has 88 campsites and most with great views of the dunes.

Cape Blanco State Park (OR)

Cape Blanco State Park is also located on Oregon’s beautiful coast. The campground has 64 campsites perched above the Pacific Ocean on Oregon’s westernmost tip. There are also 4 cabins and 8 equestrian sites available.

Fort De Soto State Park (FL)

You’ll find 238 campsites located on and island in this Tampa Bay Area state park. It offers tons of outdoor fun and you can also visit the historic Fort De Soto.

Long Key State Park (FL)

The park and campground is located in the Florida Keys and there are 60 campsites with water & electric hookups. Quite the place to fish, paddle, snorkel, swim or just hang out.

Keyhole State Park (WY)

Arch Rock campsite #11 (pictured below) is one of many with great views of the Keyhole Reservoir.

Refugio State Beach (CA)

Refugio State Beach campground is located on a beautiful little cove just north of Santa Barbara. The popular campground has 66 campsites and all are a short walk to the beach.

We could go on and on with photos we’ve taken over the years of amazing places and campgrounds, but we’ll leave you with a shot of Yosemite valley in Yosemite National Park.
