Campers, your search for the perfect campsite along Northern California’s jem, the Upper McCloud River, is over! We’ve recently posted two Upper McCloud River campgrounds, Cattle Camp and Fowlers, with photos of each campsite in both campgrounds, as well as a few of the river and surrounding area.
In addition to camping, you’ll find endless outdoor activities here including: biking, fishing, horseback riding, OHV, swimming, boating, hiking, paddle boarding, white water rafting, and climbing. If that doesn’t keep you occupied, enjoy the wildlife that awaits you at every turn.
Cattle Camp
Cattle Camp, sitting at an elevation of 3682 feet, is a well developed campground on the Upper McCloud River region. All 27 sites are surrounded by mountain streams, waterfalls, swimming holes, and white water rapids. Feel free to bring your furry friends and s’mores because pets and fire rings are no problem. The campground has water, vault toilets, and picnic tables accessible to all campers as well. This is a tent, vehicle, and mid size RV campground, but keep in mind there are no RV hookups available.
Fowlers
Fowlers Campground, which sits at an elevation of 3,286 feet, is the most popular campground on the Upper McCloud River. The 39 sites are near three jaw dropping waterfalls, where you can take in nature’s beauty while breathing in California’s melted snow. All sites have tables, fire rings, and grates. The campground has vault toilets. Keep in mind that Flowers Campground allows tents, mid sized RVs and trailers.
