New Arizona Campgrounds Added

We’ve added 7 new Arizona campgrounds with pictures of all the campsites!

Let’s start with Ashurst Lake Campground up in the high country of Northern Arizona. This is a primitive campground overlooking Ashurt Lake at about an elevation of about 7,100 feet. It’s a very pretty area with views of the San Francisco mountains in the distance. It’s a nice place to get away from it all and enjoy some fishing, boating, hunting, hiking and mountain bike riding. There are roughly 25 campsites and most have some nice privacy in the spread out campground. Each site has a table and fire ring. The campground has vault toilets and potable water.

Cave Creek Regional Park offers a quiet and clean family campground about 27 miles north of Phoenix in the town of Cave Creek. You’ll find 50 campsites with electricity and water laid out among beautiful Saguaro cactus. The Park has 2,922 acres and includes a nice visitor center, miles of hiking & horse trails and usually plenty of sunshine to enjoy. There are a few campsites with horse corrals. The campground has flush toilets, hot showers, a visitor center, picnic area and a dump station.

Dogtown Lake, in the Kaibab National Forest, is a popular 55 campsite campground about 20 miles from Williams, AZ. It’s a touch over 7,000 feet and very close to Dogtown Lake – a popular fishing spot. In addition to the boating and fishing on the lake, there’s plenty of hiking, horseback and OHV trails. You’ll need to travel on about 10 miles of (nice) gravel roads to reach the campground.

Forked Pine is another primitive campground on the eastern shore of Ashurst Lake. This campground has about 25 campsites with several on the shore of the lake. A few campsites are good for small RVs, but most are better suited for tents or small trailers. You’ll find a snappy vault toilet or two here and potable drinking water. This is a remote area, but offers a pretty place to camp, fish, hunt, ride your OHV and enjoy the wildlife.

Lakeview Campground sits on a hill overlooking Upper Lake Mary. The campground has 30 campsites and is on Lake Mary Road about 17 miles east of Flagstaff. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets and firewood for sale. It’s a nice little basecamp to enjoy the lake (fishing & boating), hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The campground is open early May to early October.

Pine Grove Campground is another campground close to Lake Mary in Northern Arizona. It’s a very beautiful and modern campground with 46 spacious campsites (all with paved pads). The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, showers, a dump station and campfire center. Tons of outdoor stuff to do in the area including biking, OHVing, hunting, wildlife viewing, hiking and boating/fishing at nearby Lake Mary.

White Horse Lake is the last of the 7 (for now) we’ve added in Arizona. This is a really nice campground with 94 camp[sites in 6 loops and is located about 19 miles southeast of Williams (accessed via gravel forest service roads). Most all of the campsites have a view of the lake. The campground has modern facilities including a boat ramp, flush toilets, drinking water, dup station and picnic area. It is open May through September.

  1. How about some of the public campgrounds around Prescott & Greer/ Pine areas of AZ??

    • We second that! In fact we’re planning to photograph these (and perhaps others) in the next month or two: Mignus Mountain, Potato Patch, White Spar, Hilltop and
Lower/Upper Wolf. We also hope to add a few more around the Flagstaff/Williams area – Locket Meadow, Fort Tuthill, Beaver Creek, Powell Springs, Canyon Vista and Kaibab Lake.

      • How about Apache Trout CG?? That’s a very popular venue….

      • Hi Momads2,
Yes – that’s a great idea on Apace Trout campground. We will try and schedule a photographer to get all of the campsites photos, and also get several others up in that area.
