We’ve updated the campsite photos for San Elijo State Beach & Silver Strand State Beach! Both of these campgrounds are located right next to the beach in San Diego County.
San Elijo State Beach had a portion of its campground closed for more than a year due to the construction of a new lifeguard tower/office. That lifeguard tower/office is now complete, although not yet open. The campsites closed during construction have been cleaned up and are just about ready to open. We have photos of all the the ‘new’ sites and the rest of the campsites at San Elijo State Beach.
Also, we picked a nice day to photograph all campsites at Silver Strand State Beach. Although the campground layout is basically a parking lot, sites 101-137 are all beachfront. Also, each site has water & electric hookups.
Here are a few aerial photos of the San Elijo State Beach Group campsites (where the former “Surf Camp” was located just to the left of the entrance).
Best Regards,
Camp Ranger

As soon as I read your Facebook post I went to the Reserve California site. Alas they did not have site 77 listed. I do not hold much faith that their website eill be uodated soon☹️
Hi Cheryle,
We just took the photos of the ‘soon to be open’ San Elijo State Beach campsites on Jan 14, 2020. All of the sites are ready, but they still have a barricade up on the camp road. Not sure when San Elijo State Beach and/or ReserveCalifornia will open them up, but I bet pretty soon. For sure they will be available starting end of May.
Great article and info – thank you.
