Paul M. Grist State Park campground offers 11 single-family campsites right along the shore of Valley Creek Lake. All campsites have full hookups (50 amp.). Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate.  Primitive camping sites are also available at the campground.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and hot showers ($). There’s also a boat ramp, picnic area and boat rentals.

Paul M. Grist State Park – Area Recreation

Paul M. Grist State Park is located on the shores of Valley Creek Lake about 17 miles north of Selma, Alabama. This beautiful little park offers a relaxing atmosphere, with opportunities to fish, boat, hike, bike, swim, picnic, ride a horse or just hang out.  The park is also on the Alabama Black Belt Birding Trail where you’re likely to see a variety of raptors, song birds and waterfowl.

    Called ahead to make sure there were enough camping spots and was assured there were able spots. Running late so we called to say we would be there by 8:00, the time the gates close, and even left our number in case there was a problem. We arrived at 7:55 and the gates were closed and locked. No one in sight. Very disappointing after a long day of driving. Need a reliable way for people to get ahold of someone and/or to get in the park prior to closing.
