Mt. Nebo State Park sits atop the 1,350-foot Mount Nebo in the Arkansas River Valley. The campground has 34 campsites (24 with water & electric hookups) and 15 cabins (all with views of the river valley). There are also 10 hike-in (tent) campsites available.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 24 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Campground/park amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot-water showers and trash collection. There’s also a swimming pool (fee required), tennis courts, picnic areas, pavilions, a visitor center and gift shop. Cell service is good in the area.
Although many of the cabins were built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, they are updated with modern amenities including satellite television, heat, and air conditioning, full kitchens with cookware and dinnerware. Linens are provided in these cabins. Outdoor seating is also provided.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, biking, tennis, swimming, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The park is also a certified Trail of Tears National Historic Trail Site. Mount Nebo, overlooking the Arkansas River from the south, witnessed the removal of all five of the tribes that were removed along the water route of the Trail of Tears.
