Alamo Canyon is a remote campground with 4 primitive campsites located at the base of the Ajo Mountain range in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. The 4 campsites are for tents only.
The campground is open year round and offers incredible night sky viewing and a beautiful Sonoran Desert to explore. Campground amenities include a pit toilet and trash cans. Cell service is not available. Each campsite also has a table and charcoal grill. Sites can accommodate up to 2 vehicles and 5 people. Wood fires, ground fires and generators are prohibited. Fires are allowed in the raised grills or in raised fire pans that are at least 6 inches off the ground.
There is no road sign along the highway for Alamo Canyon Road. The turn-off is located a milepost 65.5 on the east side of Highway 85. Keep in mind that the 3 mile road from Highway 85 to the campground is dirt but it is fine for low-clearance vehicles.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes stargazing, hiking, picnicking, photography and wildlife viewing.
Twin Peaks is the developed campground in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
