Lockett Meadow Campground has 17 campsites and is located in a beautiful meadow surrounded by mountains at an elevation of 8,500 feet. The campground is first-come first-serve and is about 15 miles from Flagstaff. Campsites can accommodate tents and small trailers and RVs. Keep in mind that the 4 mile dirt road to the campground is narrow and not recommend for trailers/RVs.
Campground amenities include vault toilets. There is no drinking water. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill. Cell service is not available.
There are some great trails originating from the campground including the Inner Basin Trail and Kachina Peaks Wilderness trail. This beautiful area also has plenty of wildlife including deer, elk, black bear, porcupine and a variety of birds. Mountain bikes are okay in the campground and fire roads, but not in the Kachina Peaks Wilderness.
Bonito Campground is also in the area and close to Sunset Crater. It has 44 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs.
