Apple White Campground is tucked up in Lylte Creek Canyon in the San Gabriel Mountains and close to Lylte Creek. The campground is first-come first-serve (no reservations) and has 44 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. There are a few double campsites. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grill. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets and a friendly campground host. You’ll also find some tree carvings of bears throughout the campground.
Across the road from Apple White Campground is beautiful family picnic area along Lytle Creek. The large picnic area has flush toilets, picnic tables, grills, grass areas and plenty of big trees that provide shade. The creek usually runs most of the year and you can splash around in the creek to stay cool during the hot summer months.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes biking, hiking, horseback riding, exploring historic sites, OHVing, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area is another option that is nearby. The campground has 136 campsites overlooking the lake. It’s about 30 miles from Apple White.
