Arroyo Seco campground has 51 campsites and is located near the beautiful Arroyo Seco River in the Los Padres National Forest. Sites have great views of the surrounding Ventana Wilderness. Group camping is also available.
The campground is well maintained and has 2 loops. The lower loop includes campsites 1-34 and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 30 feet). The lower loop also has potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers and trash collection.
The upper loop includes primitive campsites 36-51. It has water, vault toilets and trash collection. It’s also close to a lake (with catch and release fishing / no swimming). Several of the sites are double-family, including 1-2, 7-9, 9-10, 12-13, 15-16, 18-19, 21-22, 24-25, 31-32 and 41-42.
The group camping area can accommodate up to 50 people and 10 vehicles (up to 20 feet). It has several tables and a food prep area with large BBQs. Each campsite also has a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Firewood is available to purchase from the camp host (site #34).
The Arroyo Seco Recreation Area has a large day use/picnic area right along the Arroyo Seco River. The day use area has several picnic tables, BBQs, flush toilets and trash collection. Cell service is not available in the area.
The area offers a variety of outdoor activities including swimming and tubing in the river, hiking, mountain biking, ATVing, picnicking, hunting and horseback riding. You can also fish, kayak and canoe in the small (seasonal) lake near the campground. Rock Creek has a few nice swimming holes and also opportunities to float in a tube when the water is high enough. Wildlife viewing is also nice in the area.
The Arroyo Seco trailhead offers access to the popular area of the Arroyo Seco River known as The Gorge and is notable for the long string of swimming holes with crystal clear water flowing through narrow rock walls.

Is this campsite permanently closed? We love it there.
Hi Karen,
Arroyo Seco Campground remains closed because roads in the area are still damaged/closed from last year’s storms. The forest service does not provide any date on when the roads/campground may be open again. As a result the campground is ‘closed until further notice’.
