Atwell Mill campground has 21 first-come, first-serve campsites and is located in the remote area of Mineral King in Sequoia National Park. The campground is the the site of a once logged giant sequoia grove and also next to the East Fork of the Kaweah River. It is about one hour from the town of Three Rivers. Cold Springs campground is also just up the road a few miles.
Camping is only for tents. Each site also has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grate. Campsite 12h is a designated accessible site. A payphone, potable water and vault toilets are available. You can also find a restaurant, gift shop and showers at nearby Silver City Resort (1.7 miles up Mineral King road).
Hiking and backpacking are very popular in the area. The campground has a trailhead that accesses the East For Grove of giant sequoias. Horseback riding is also popular. Other activities include picnicking and wildlife viewing.
