Barrett Cove Lake McClure Campground is large and spread out with approximately 249 campsites situated around Lake McClure in the Sierra Nevada foothills. There are 89 sites with water & electric hookups, and the rest are a mixture of standard, walk-in (tent only), and group campsites. Cabins are also available for rent. Campsite loops A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are for camping. Loop I is parking for the Exchequer Mountain Bike Park. Keep in mind that many of the campsites are uneven and many of the parking pads (and driveways) are quite steep. Some may even require a 4WD vehicle to navigate.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, a dump station, camp store, marina store & cafe, fish cleaning station and boat launch ramp. There is also a day use/picnic area, children’s playground, volleyball court, swimming lagoon & picnic area, and fish cleaning station. Most all of the campsites also have a table, fire ring and grate.
The recreation area is operated by the Merced Irrigation District and features a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. On the water visitors can enjoy boating, house boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, jet skiing, water skiing and swimming. On land you can also enjoy mountain biking, hiking, picnicking, horseshoes, volleyball and wildlife viewing. Yosemite National Park is also just 47 miles away.
Other campgrounds in the area include Horseshoe Bend, McClure Point, Lake McSwain and Bagby.
