Big Meadow Campground is a beautiful little camping spot with 11 campsites along Rock Creek in the Inyo National Forest. The area offers a peaceful place to camp with great views of Rock Creek, towering pines and the Sierra Nevada mountains. The campground is also a great place to stay if you want to fish for trout in the creek or hike in the mountains.
The campground is first-come, first-serve (no reservations). It is generally open early June to late September (snow permitting). Amenities include drinking water and flush toilets. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grate. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Our favorite Big Meadow campsites are 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
Outdoor recreation includes fishing, mountain biking, backpacking, stargazing and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also nice in the area.
Other campgrounds in the area include Pine Grove, Upper Pine Grove, Iris Meadow, Palisade, East Fork and Rock Creek Lake. Rock Creek Lakes Resort is also nearby.
