Blue Jay campground has 51 single-family campsites and is located at 3,400 feet in elevation in the Cleveland National Forest. Sites can accmmodate tents, trailers and small RVs (to 20 feet). This campground is a first-come, first-serve campground has a nice ‘wilderness’ vibe and is close to many trails. The campground has drinking water and vault toilets. Each campsite has has a table, fire ring and grate.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes some nice mountain biking, hiking and equestrian trails. You can also have a delightful picnic and enjoy the wildlife in the area.
The Cleveland National Forest provides habitat for native wildlife, as well as a natural refuge and playground for many of the 3 million plus residents in the greater San Diego area.
Lake Skinner has a nice campground and some fine fishing. It’s about 37 miles east next to the town of Winchester. Other campgrounds in the areas are also El Cariso and Upper San Juan.
