Castaic Lake campground is located on a hillside overlooking the lake and has 65 campsites, some with hookups. About half of the sites overlook the water. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grill. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, showers ($), an RV dump station. There’s also a picnic area, boat ramp, marina (with boat rentals), camp store, horseshoe pit, swim beach, hiking and biking trails, and a children’s play area. Firewood, ice, foods and supplies are also available at the camp store. Cell service is good.
Castaic Lake has 29 miles of shoreline and is one of the largest state water reservoirs in California. The campground is open year round and located on the lower lagoon (below the dam).
Castiac Lake Recreation Area is operated by the Los Angeles Department of Parks & Recreation It is quite popular and particularly on weekends and in the summer. Outdoor recreation includes a variety of water sports, including trophy fishing, boating, water sports, canoeing, and kayaking. There’s also hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, wildlife watching and many other activities. Boat rentals are available at the lake.
Lake Piru – Olive Grove campground is also in the vicinity. It’s about 23 miles away and offers 234 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. You may also like McGill Campground. Fort Tejon Group Camp is also nearby.
