Chilkoot Campground has 20 spacious campsites located in a fir and cedar forest next to Chilkoot creek in the Sierra National Forest.
The rustic campground has vault toilets but not a drop of water to drink (unless you filter from the creek). Trash collection is provided and firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is not reliable but clear nights and starry skies will make up for browsing your social media.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailer and RVs. Some campsites are tent only and a few have a bit of a slope and not good for tent camping. Double campsites are also available. Each site has a table, fire ring and grill.
Other campgrounds in the area include Soquel, Cedar Bluff, Crane Valley, Forks, Kelty Meadow, Lupine, Recreation Point, Spring Cove and Wishon.
Nearby Bass Lake is a popular recreation area. Activities here include motorized and non-motorized boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, sailing and water skiing. Anglers can fish in Chilkoot Creek for channel catfish, sucker and brown trout. Other nearby activities include hiking the Buena Vista trail and paddling on Willow Creek. Yosemite National Park is also just an hour drive from the campground.
