Cibbets Flat is a well maintained campground in the Cleveland National Forest about 60 miles east of San Diego. The campground has 23 campsites (first-come, first-serve) and most have nice shade from large oak trees. Campsites 19-22 are ‘walk-to’ campsites and are closest to the seasonal creek that meanders by the campground. Most other campsites are large and also have a table, fire ring and grate. Sites 5 & 6 and 15 & 16 are double sites.
Campground amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for sale from the friendly camp host. Dogs are allowed in campground but must be on a leash.
The area has some nice hiking trails and you can also find a few swimming holes in nearby Kitchen Creek. Mountain biking and wildlife viewing are also popular.

How easy/likely is it to get a first-come first-served site at this campground mid-week in early April (around the time of spring break)?
You should have no problem getting a mid-week campsite at Cibbets Flat in early April. Have fun!
Are dogs welcome?
Hi John,
Yes, dogs are allowed/welcome at Cibbets Flat campground. They need to be on leash at all times.
Is this campground usually busy mid October? I’d like to camp here the 18th thru the 20th but I’ve never camped here before, so I’m not sure what the availability looks like mid-October.
Hi Elizabeth,
There should be several campsites available at Cibbets Flat mid October (Oct 18-20). Should be a nice time of year up there – a little cool at night though. Have fun!
