Cold Springs – Sequoia Overview

Cold Springs Campground is located next to the east fork of the Kaweah River in the Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park. It has 40 (tent-only) campsites set among aspen and evergreen trees. Campsites 33-41 are walk/hike-to (about 100-200 yards from parking area). The rest of the sites are drive up (RVs and trailers not permitted).

The campground is 23 miles (37 km) from Highway 198 on the Mineral King Road. The road is narrow, winding and steep, deeply rutted in sections, and mostly unpaved. Cell service is not available at the campground.

Each site also has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grate.  A payphone, potable water and vault toilets are available.  You can also find a restaurant, gift shop and showers at nearby Silver City Resort.

Atwell Mill Campground is also nearby and has 21 (tent-only) campsites.

Cold Springs Sequoia – Area Recreation

Hiking and backpacking are very popular in the area.  Horseback riding is also popular. Other activities include picnicking and wildlife viewing.
