Corral Creek is a small dispersed camping area located next to the Wild & Scenic Kern River about 9 miles north of Kernville. There are about 12-14 camping areas for groups, tents, trailers and RVs. Some sites are ‘walk to’.
The campground is open year-round and is free. Campground amenities include a vault toilet (summer months). There is no water or tables available. There is also a picnic area adjacent to the campground, which has a small beach along the Kern river.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The Avenue of the Giants is also about 30 miles up the road and features a stand of giant Sequoia trees.
Other campgrounds in the are includes Gold Ledge (up river) and Hospital Flat (down river). The Springhill Dispersed camping area is also in the area. Corral Creek Lodge is just across the street.
