Crystal Lake Recreation Area Campground has 191 campsites and is located at about 5,600 feet in the Angeles National Forest at the end of Highway 39. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and small RVs.
Amenities include drinking water, vault toilers and an amphitheater. Hiking trails are also nearby. The Crystal Lake Cafe and Trading Post is next to the campground where you can grab a meal or load up on fire wood and supplies. Each campsite has a table, fire pit and ring. There are also 3 cabins to rent here.
Crystal Lake Recreation Area is a large facility and tends to get busy in the summer, but you it’s still a nice place to enjoy some clean mountain air and take in some of the outdoor activities in the area. Outdoor activities include hiking, biking, picnicking and horseback riding. You can also fish at Crystal Lake when the water level is good. The lake is about a mile hike from the campground. Motorized boats are not allowed on the lake.
Coldbrook Campground is also in the area. It’s about 8 miles down the road and just off Highway 39.
