Dixon Lake Campground has 46 campsites and 1 (ADA) cabin. It is located in the foothills above Escondido, CA at an elevation of about 1,100 feet. Ten campsites (14 to 23) have full hookups. Group camping is allowed in campsites 25-29. Keep in mind that several of the campsites require a bit of a walk from the parking spur to the camping area.
The campground is open year round with check-in time at 2pm and check-out at 12pm. Quiet time is from 10pm to 6am. Generators use is not allowed.
Amenities include drinking water, flush & vault toilets, showers, trash collection and a dump station. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Although the campsites have fire rings, wood fires are never allowed at the campground. Charcoal and propane fires only.
Outdoor recreation includes fishing, hiking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Boat rentals are available but personal water craft are not permitted on the lake. There are also two picnic areas with playgrounds. The Lakeshore Picnic area has a store, fish cleaning station, fishing docks and boat rentals.
Climbers wishing to access Eagle Peak (aka “Y-Crack”) must register and have a climbing permit.
