Douglas City Campground is located in a beautiful area along the Trinity River and has 23 spacious single-family campsites. All sites are first come, first-serve.
Campground amenities include paved roads/spurs, drinking water, hot-water showers, flush & vault toilets, a day use/picnic area and trash collection. Cell service is poor in the area.
Each campsite can accommodate a tent, trailer or RV (up to 42 feet). Each site also has a table, food storage locker (bear box), fire ring and grill. Site #4 is the host and #20 is ADA.

Whitewater rafting, kayaking, tubing and fishing are popular along the Trinity River. There are a couple of really nice swim holes close to the campground too. If you would like more adrenaline rush, the waters below Pigeon Point rage at class III-V for white water enthusiasts. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, wildlife viewing and gold panning. In fact, “Reading’s Bar” is located right next to the campground. It is where Major Pierson B. Reading discovered gold and took out about $80,000 worth back in the 1800s.
