Frenchman Campground Plumas National Forest California
Frenchman Overview
Frenchman campground has 38 single-family campsites along the shores of Frenchman Lake in the Plumas National Forest. Some of the campground and trees were charred by the Beckwourth Complex Fire (2021), but most of it is okay.
The sites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. A few of the campsites are a bit cramped with some being small and not very level, but there are others that are larger with privacy. There are 3 pull-through sites (15, 27 and 30), and sites 23 and 24 are shared parking. Campsites 3, 10, 11, 13, 19 and 20 require a short uphill hike to the camping area.
Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill. There are no hookups. Some campsites are first-come, first-serve.
The campground is open mid April through September and has drinking water, vault toilets and firewood for sale from the campground host. There is also a picnic/day use area close by.

I can’t find out if fish and game believe Frenchman campground and boat dock will be open in April 2022 because of fire damage last year
Hi Fred,
That’s what we are hearing too. The (Plumas) US Forest Service is working hard to get the campground and boat ramp ready by April. Nearly all the facilities were damaged in the recent “Beckwourth” fire. You can check the Plumas National Forest website for updates.
