Granite Flat campground has 74 campsites and is located on Highway 89 along the Truckee River and 1 mile south of Truckee.   The campground is all paved with many of the campsites located within 30 feet of the highway. The sites near the river are certainly the best. Sites 69-75 are walk-in (tent only) and there is no site #1.

Granite Flat campground has drinking water and vault toilets. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Each campsite has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grate.

Fishing is excellent from the banks of the Truckee River.  Other outdoor recreation in the area includes rafting, kayaking, tubbing, swimming, mountain biking, hiking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The campground is also centrally located to spend a day visiting Stampede Reservoir, Boca Reservoir, Squaw Valley or Lake Tahoe.

Other campgrounds in the area include Alpine Meadow (Martis Creek Lake), Donner Memorial State Park, Goose Meadows and Silver Creek (Truckee).

  2. I stayed at Granite Flat Campground from 7/22/2020 to 7/26/2020 and had an amazing time. Scott, who runs the campground, was an incredible host. Although the site was full when I got there, he found a place for me for the first night and then worked with me to find a new site the next day after people left. He also checked on me every day to ask how my stay was and if there was anything I needed. I’ve never had such an amazing campground host! He keeps the campsites and bathrooms super clean. I’m definitely coming back to camp there for my next trip. Thanks Scott!
