Grays Meadow Lower Campground has 16 campsites along Independence Creek in the Onion Valley area of the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring, grate and food storage locker.
Grays Meadow consists of an upper and lower campground with the creek bordering one side of the campground. Campsites 10, 12, 13 and 14 are closest to the water. Most of the campground is located in a large oak grove, providing shade.
Campground amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for purchase from the campground host. Cell service is poor in the area.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, and backpacking. The area is also home to abundant wildlife, including black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, pine marten, pika and many species of fish and birds.
Other campgrounds in the area include Grays Meadow Upper and Onion Valley.
