Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park Campground has 30 single-family campsites set among a beautiful grove of coastal redwoods along the Van Duzen River. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grate. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, showers and overflow parking. Group and hike/bike campsites are also available here. And there are a few nice trailheads that will lead you into 4 different redwood groves. Pets are okay too (on a leash)! And there are evening campfire programs at certain days of the week throughout the summer.
Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park packs a lot big coastal redwoods trees in just a few acres. It also offers a sense of seclusion as relatively few visitors visit this off the beaten path area. Outdoor recreation includes fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking on the Van Duzen River, as well as hiking, biking, picnicking, photography and wildlife viewing.
Humboldt Redwoods State Park is also in the area. It’s about 29 miles away and has 57 campsites available.

We haven’t been to Grizzly Creek for many years. Are dogs allowed? Is there still an evening campfire program in the little amphitheater?
Hi Elena,
Yes pets/dogs are allowed at Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, and they have evening campfire programs during the summer. Hope you have a great trip!
I have no idea how this place is rated at over 4 stars. I give it 1. One for the awesome staff who were extremely helpful and for the day use creek area which was neat. Other than that this is not nor should ever be called camping. Hwy 36 is so close to the road side spots you can feel the rumbling as trucks go by and its constant. All. Night. Long. Oh and the locals are kind enough to either honk as they drive by or floor it so they’re accelerating and making as much noise as possible. I just don’t see how being on the creek side can make the noise any better as its only an additional 20 yards or so away. In addition our neighbors decided to be loud, set up their equipment and sleeping mattresses not when they arrived in the day but at night after heavy drinking, and had no concept of camping etiquette whatsoever. We had a 3 night stay planned and left after the first single worst night camping of my life. Went to Humboldt Redwoods State Park and found a nice spot un-reserved.
This truely was a hidden gem. Yes it was close to the road. But after dark the road noise cut way back. We stayed one night in site #20 which was huge and the redwoods were magnificent. We needed a one night spot and it was perfect. Showeres were hot and clean. All sites looked nice and well spaced out and setting was great. Not a place for more than 2 nights but the river, visitor center, and sites were great.
