Hampshire Rocks campground has 31 single-family campsites and is located on the north bank of the South Yuba River in a forest of lodgepole pines. Some of the campsites are tent only.  The campground has drinking water and vault toilets. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, OHVing and picnicking. There’s also some nice wildlife viewing opportunities here. The campground is also located a short drive from the town of Truckee and Lake Tahoe

Other campgrounds in the area include Indian Springs, Lodgepole (Tahoe), and Lake Spaulding.

  1. I’ve done alot of camping, and by far this was the most disappointing campground. I knew there would be freeway noise, but what bugged me was that they recently cut down all the trees, like all of them, so the pictures of the space I booked were not accurate. I specifically booked thinking we could hammock in our space right there by the water, but no. No shade, no privacy, spaces are super small, and equipment is all old, dusty, falling apart, and not well maintained.

    • Sorry to hear about that DP – that they cut down the trees at Hampshire Rocks. We will try and schedule a photographer to get new photographs soon.
