Hayward Flat Campground has 104 campsites and is one of the more popular campgrounds next to Trinity Lake. Most campsites have great shade and the campground is on one of the best arms of the lake for water skiing. The Dogwood and Elderberry loops provide lake views and informal mooring for boats.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 40 feet). Each site also has a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Most sites also have a bear proof food locker. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and trash collection. The campground also has an amphitheater. A boat ramp and marina are located 3 miles away. Cell service is poor in the area.
Other campgrounds in the area include Alpine View, Trinity River, Minersville, Bushytail, Fawn, Tannery, Ackerman and Mary Smith.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, swimming, water skiing, jet skiing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Relics from the area’s Placer mining history are also scattered throughout the campground, with interpretive signs providing explanations.
