Hobo Campground Sequoia National Forest California

Lake Isabella, California
760 376-1815

Hobo Campground is located on the banks of the Lower Kern River below Lake Isabella in the Sequoia National Forest. The has campground has 24 campsites that are best suited for tents.  Smaller RVs (up to 22 feet) would work too, but trailers are not recommended.

Several of the campsites are right on the shores of the Lower Kern.  Keep in mind that most campsites have stairs to walk down to the table/tent camping pad. There are just a few campsites that will work for small RVS (up to 22 feet).

The campground has drinking water, vault toilets, a picnic area, paved roads and parking spurs. Each campsite has a table fire ring and grill. Several sites have decent shade, which is nice in the 100 degree summer heat. Hobo campground is popular in the summer and on weekends. There is also a raft/kayak boat launch area just down river from the campground in the day-use picnic area.

The Lower Kern River is very popular for white water rafting and kayaking, as well as tubing and swimming when the river is at lower/calmer levels. It’s also has some pretty good fishing. Miracle Hot Springs is about a mile from the campground where you can soak with your neighbors in the nice thermal water. Other outdoor recreation includes picnicking, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing.

Sandy Flat Campground is located about 1/2 mile up the road. It has 34 campsites that are also on the banks of the Lower Kern River.
