Horseshoe Meadow Equestrian campground is located at 10,000 feet and serves as the basecamp for horseback riders up to Cottonwood Lakes and Mt. Langley (one of California 14ers). All 10 campsites are first-come, first-serve and for equestrian campers only (4 horses per site). Because of it’s high elevation, the campground is usually open from early June through mid September.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVS. Each campsite also has a paved parking spur, table, food storage locker, fire ring, grill, corral and hitch rail. Campground amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for sale from camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.
Cottonwood Lakes Trailhead Campground (13 tent only sites) and Cottonwood Pass Trailhead Campground (18 tent only sites) are also nearby.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
You may also be interested in Tuttle Creek, Lone Pine or Whitney Portal campgrounds.
