Burlington Campground has 61 campsites set among old and second growth redwood trees in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. It is also located next to the Visitor Center on the Avenue of the Giants. The Eel River is short walk from the campground and offers some nice fishing and swimming holes.
The 57 single-family campsites are good for tents, trailers and RVs (maximum length 24 feet). Burlington Campground also has 3 hike/bike campsites and group camping available. Camping fees are for one vehicle and one legally towed vehicle. Additional vehicles will be charged a fee at the park. You can also have up to 8 people per campsite. Each campsite has a table, fire ring, grate and food storage locker. There are no RV dump stations at the campground (or Park), but there two restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. Cell service is poor.

We plan on using the fire pit for cooking our meals. We will bring and buy firewood, but I was wondering if it’s aloud to use charcoal in the fire pits? Especially for morning campfire made coffee and breakfast, I’m wondering if we can mix in charcoal for faster heat, lasting and even temperature?
Hi Chris,
Yes, using charcoal is permitted in the fire pits at Burlington campground at Humboldt Redwoods State Park.

How many tents are allowed per site in Burlington Campground?
Thanks!
Hi Joe,
You can usually have about 2-4 per site, depending on the size of the tent/camping area, and size of the tents.
We have a 25 foot trailer. I realize the description says 24 feet, but is there a site that will fit us in mid September 2022?
Hi Nikkie,
Your trailer should fit, but final call comes from camp host/park ranger. You can also visit ReserveCalifornia.com – Humboldt Redwoods State Park, and check each site for size availability. It’s a bit of a pain, but the info is there.
is there service at the Burlington Campground? or somewhere nearby?
Hi Sophie,
If you’re talking about ‘cell’ service – you can probably get a signal up on Highway 101. The town of Weott (9 miles south) has cell service.
This campground is AWSOME! It’s one of the few I’ve visited where I could be happy just hanging around the campsite all day. You’ll be surrounded by giant redwoods and steeped in their tree bliss.
Okay, on to business, the business of picking a campsite. I did my usual assessment of each site in the park and came up with my list of winners. My judging criteria are as follows: I have a 25-foot RV, so a site has to fit me in and be level enough to get my RV to level without putting it on stilts. Also, I want a site not right next to a bathroom, as I have one and don’t want a ton of foot traffic nearby. Also, I want a private site, (no close neighbors). And last but not least, I want a scenic spot. So here’s my list of the best sites, any one of which will work [18, 19, 20, 26, 27, 29, 30].
I’m ready to get up there and do some camping! Thanks!
