Ice House Comments & Reviews

Visited Ice House Campground lately? We'd love to hear about your adventure. Did you find us useful? Did we forget something? Anything our community should know before heading out to Ice House?

6 Comments on “Ice House”

  1. This is one of our favorite places to camp, especially in late summer when the water is warmer. The bathrooms are maintained throughout the day, even on the busiest days. There is a place nearby to rent kayaks (must have a car that can transport them) as well as a boat ramp if you have a boat. The privacy isn’t the best at some of the sites, but if you take note, you can target one where you feel a bit more secluded.

  2. Jeanette Williams says:

I camped twice at Ice House campground during the past month and both times were very enjoyable! Della, campground host, was very helpful and always answered any questions that I had. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake and an empty beach on a Thursday! People are friendly and the campground is quiet at 10pm! Will definitely be going back in 2021.

  3. It says ice house campground is open for camping until mid October, but recreation.gov only shows until end of September. Is it first come first serve afterwards with a self-pay system?

    • Hi Sean,
That may be the case (first-come, first-serve after mid September), if it is not closed due to weather. The USFS web page has it as being open through mid-October, but it also indicates reservations area required. I recommend trying to give the Forest Service office a call to confirm: 831-245-6891
