June Lake Campground has 29 campsites nestled among a delightful forest of Aspen and Pines on the shoreline of June lake in the Eastern Sierras. There are 22 for RVs & trailer and 7 tent only sites (T1 to T7). The tent campsites has a general parking area for all sites (one vehicle per site). Overflow parking is not available. Parking spurs range in size from 20 to 30 feet.
Each campsite has a table, fire ring, grate and bear-proof food storage locker. There is a 14-day stay limit. You’re allowed to have up to 1 vehicle and 6 people per site. There are no hookups. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets and trash collection. Cell coverage is fair in the area.
The campground is at 7,600 feet, but tends to be one of the first ‘high-country’ areas to get clear of snow allowing anxious fishermen to get their lines in the water by late April. Hold your horses though – the campground doesn’t open until early May and closes October 31. The town of June lake is also nearby and has darling gift stores, groceries, restaurants, gas and a few other snappy shops. There’s also a marina and boat rentals next to the campground.
The area offers quite a bit of outdoor activity including boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, backpacking, horseback riding, hiking, biking, photography, picnicking, OHV riding, climbing and wildlife viewing. There are also some historic sites and ghost towns in the area to explore. Be sure to check out Bodie State Historic Park if you get the chance. It is about an hour drive from the campground.
Other campgrounds in the area include Gull Lake, Oh Ridge, Reversed Creek and Silver Lake.

Does June Lake have any first come first serve campsites for memorial day?
Hi Megan,
There are only three first-come, first-serve campsites (and only for Friday night) available available at June Lake over Memorial Day weekend. All of those will most likely be taken by this morning.
Can the tent sites hold a 2nd vehicle if my family is coming in 2 vehicles? Does June lake campground have an overflow parking?
Hi Jamy,
Unfortunately the campground permits only one vehicle per tent campsite. Vehicles for all sites are parking in a general parking area (not site specific). Also, there is no overflow parking at June Lake.
Bears??? How often are there bear sightings at the campsites?
There has been a high level of activity of bear sightings at June Lake campgrounds this year. Be sure to keep your food and scented items in the food storage / bear box lockers. Bears generally tend to come around a dusk and night.
We would like to come up October 1st thru the 7th. What do you think are the chances of getting a spot?
Hi Candi,
Right now there is availability at June Lake Campground for a October 1 arrival – October 6 departure. The night of October 6th is sold out. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to double check availability, pricing and make a reservation. I recommend you set up a Campsite Assist – availability scan for June 6-7. Changes are a site will open up (through a cancel). Campsite Assist will send you a text and email alert if/when a site opens up and it also has a link so you can try and reserve (asap). Here’s the Campsite Assist / Availability Scan link for June Lake: https://www.campsitephotos.com/campsite-assist/?c=June+Lake&id=18652
How many tents or how many people are allowed per site?
Hi SC,
You’re allowed to have up to 1 vehicle and 6 people per site at June Lake Campground. The number of tents would depend on the tent size(s) and campsite size. Most can accommodate two medium sized tents.
