Ky-en And Oak Grove Day Use Area Overview

Ky-en Campground is on the northern shore of Lake Mendocino and has 101 single-family campsites (29 with water & electric hookups).  The campground need some serious TLC / maintenance. It’s in bad shape (as of June 2023) but hopefully plans will be to clean it up and improve the facility.

Fifteen of the campsites are lakeside and all sites are walking distance to the lake. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 30 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, RV sewage dump station, playground, boat ramp and trash collection.  A day-use/picnic area is also next to the campground and has a swim beach, playground disc golf course and volleyball court. Cell service is not available in the area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Chekaka (4.5 miles) and Bushay Recreation Area (17 miles).

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, fishing, swimming, water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, volleyball, disc golf, hunting and wildlife viewing.
