Little Harbor campground is located in a beautiful cove on the backside of Catalina Island. There are 23 campsites in Little Harbor and 6 others in nearby Shark Harbor. Eighteen campsites are tent-only and 11 can accommodate tents or trailers. All campsites are a short walk to the beach. Sites LH10, LH11, LH12, SH8, SH9 and SH10 are beachfront.
The campground is about 7 miles from Two Harbors and 16 miles from Avalon. Logistically it’s better to arrive in Two Harbors. The Catalina Express is the best way to reach the island. It operates several ferries from various ports on the mainland to Catalina Island.
You can hike, bike or get a shuttle to the campground. Roundtrip group gear hauls (including firewood) are available from the Two Harbors Visitor Services. Kayaks are camping gear are also available to rent and deliver to the campground.
Campgrounds amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and cold showers. There’s also a camp host and ranger (peak season). Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grate. Most also have shade shelters.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes kayaking, sailing, sunbathing, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, mountain biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great here!
Other campgrounds on Catalina Island include Two Harbors and Hermit Gulch (Avalon). In addition, Parson’s Landing and Black Jack are two other primitive campgrounds.
