Lower Peppermint Campground has 17 primitive (first-come, first-serve) campsites and is located near Peppermint Creek at an elevation of 5,200 feet.
The campground is generally open mid May to mid November. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Campsites can accommodate small vehicles and are best suited for tent camping. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Cell service is not available in the area.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, stargazing and wildlife viewing. The Upper Kern River (out of Kernville) offers whitewater rafting and kayaking, and Lake Isabella also has a variety of water sports to enjoy. The Trial of 100 Giants trailhead is also about 16 miles from the campground, where you can stroll through really big redwood trees.
Upper Peppermint Creek (dispersed) Campground is also in the area. It is an undeveloped camping area with free camping. Down by the Upper Kern River you may also like Limestone, Brush Creek (dispersed), Limestone, Fairview and Chamise Flat (dispersed)
