Memorial Park (a San Mateo County Park) includes 673 acres of old-growth redwood forest and 5 campgrounds in a secluded area of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The popular park also has a youth (group) camping area, visitor center, 8 miles of hiking trails and picnic areas to enjoy.
Azalea Flat and Sequoia Flat campgrounds offer 126 single-family campsites (up to 8 people per site). Most campsites are best for tent camping (small vehicles). A limited number of sites can accommodate RVs up to 35 feet. Hookups are not available. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, trash collection and a dump station. Firewood is also available to purchase at the park.
Huckleberry Flat is a camping area for dogs and their owners, surrounded by lush redwood, tan oak, and huckleberry forest. The area is divided into 9 separately reservable campsites. Huckleberry Flat #1 is a group site, with a capacity of 30 persons and 5 dogs. The other sites are family camping sites with a capacity of 12 persons and 3 dogs.
Doug Fir Group Campground overlooks Pescadero Creek and offers a large reservable group site (up to 30 people and 8 vehicles). The site has two large BBQs, a redwood serving table, four picnic tables, two fire rings, and one stone fire pit. It is open from Memorial Weekend to October 31. This site is not trailer-friendly as there are no turn-arounds for trailers. There are currently no electrical connections at this site.
Redwood Flat Campground is available by reservation only (Memorial Day through October 31). It includes 2 acres for tent camping. The area is partly shady due to its surrounding vegetation made up of redwood, tan oak, douglas fir and huckleberry. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis. It also has 19 barbecues, 24 tables, drinking water and trash collection. Restrooms are also about 100 feet away.
Wurr Flat has 2 reservable group campsites with about 2 acres of camping area each. They also have room for 15 trailers or 15 tents and 75 people. Amenities include a lighted barbecue area with 7 tables, a restroom with flush toilets and showers, drinking water and trash collection.
Outdoor recreation includes hiking, biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area.
