By chance I happened upon this place on the return trip from Calaveras SP near Sacramento. It was here or a Motel 6. I chose wisely. It was clean, peaceful, hardly populated except for a very nice CG host and a rattlesnake that wanted to share my tent spot. I had to toss the same snake into the tall grass twice! The third time I lost patience and was sorry to have to kill it. I tossed the carcass into the grass and shortly afterwards I noticed a low swooping shadow on the ground. An eagle was swooping low to the ground and landed in the tall grass. It took the snake to it’s nest which was in the tallest pine tree in the CG. I watched with my binoculars as it shared the snake with the chicks in the nest. Fascinating!
