  1. I came here with my wife and our two friends to celebrate the new year. It was dead empty which was awesome! I think there was maybe one other group at the entire campground. Also, bugs were not a problem so thanks to everyone who recommended staying here in the winter vs summer or fall. The bathrooms were clean and accessible from our site 34. This was nearly the perfect camping experience except for one incident. On the first night of our stay on 12/30/23 at 10:03 (I have a text to prove it) we heard a generator start running. My buddy and I went up to the area where it was running and politely asked when the woman was planning to turn off the generator to which she said “I haven’t eaten yet”. She also said she was the camp host and when we mentioned that we thought quiet hours started at 10PM she rudely remarked “I live here all year and I can run my generator any time I want”. She ran it for about an hour and this was the only instance of disturbing our sleep throughout our stay. Just to be sure we checked the posted sign at the campground that says quiet hours start at 10 and to ask the camp host to deal with anyone who is noncompliant– guess she didn’t think it was a problem. All in all this is a beautiful space and I would highly recommend booking a winter stay here as long as you pick a site far away from the camp host.

    • Hi Mel,
Great description of Mt. Figueroa when there’s nobody there. I too was up there (in the fall) when there were just a few campers – very nice/peaceful. Too bad about the camp host generator lady – geez.
