Obsidian Flat Campground Inyo National Forest California

Obsidian Flat Overview

Obsidian Flat Group Campground is located in a wilderness area between Mammoth Lakes and June Lake at an elevation of 7,800 feet. It is set in a peaceful forested setting with beautiful mountain views.  The group site can accommodate up to 50 people and 45-foot vehicles.

The campground is generally open late May to late September and visitors can stay up to 14 days. Amenities include vault toilets and a limited number of bear / food storage lockers. Piped water is not available. Services are available in Mammoth Lakes or June Lake.

Area Recreation & Activities

The area is popular for ATV/OHV enthusiasts as there are several miles of trails that weave throughout the area. Other activities include mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Lower Deadman, Upper Deadman and Glass Creek. Developed campgrounds are also located in Mammoth Lakes area.
