Panther Flat Campground has 38 campsites and is located 50 feet above the Middle Fork of Smith River in Six Rivers National Forest. Campsites have nice tree shade and huckleberry bushes offer privacy between campsites. There are no views of the river from any of the campsites, but its a short hike or drive to the Panther Flat picnic area for river views and access.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and coin operated showers. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 40 feet). Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Check is in 2pm and check out is 12pm (up to 2 vehicles and 8 people per site). You can reserve campsites from mid May to mid September, and they are first-come first-serve other times of the year.
The Middle Fork of Smith River offers world-class fishing and there are a few nice swimming holes to cool off. Other activities include river rafting & kayaking in late spring/early summer, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
