Pigeon Point Campground has 7 single-family campsites and a reservable group site along the Trinity River in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. You may get a little traffic noise from the highway but the sounds of the river should help you slumber. Campsites have limited shade.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 22 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill.
Our favorite campsites are 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and the group site. There is a short walk from the parking area to site #4 (100 feet) and site #5 (50 feet). Sites 3, 4, 5, 6 and the group site have nice river views. The group site can have up to 50 people and 10 vehicles.
Campground amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Potable (drinking) water is not available. A boat ramp and boat trailer parking is also next to the campground. Cell service is poor in the area.
Other campgrounds in the area include Pigeon Point, Junction City, Hayden Flat, Tannery and Mary Smith.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Generally, Pigeon Point to Big Flat is too dangerous for tuber and family canoeists. Boating is not advised from Cedar Flat to Grays Falls except for expert boaters. This campground is also located near several trailheads that access the Trinity Alps Wilderness.
