Plaskett Creek Campground is located in Big Sur and has 44 campsites in a beautiful park-like setting among many mature Monterey pine and Cypress trees which offer nice shade. Most campsites (38) are reservable and are suitable for tents, trailers and RVs (from 20 to 50 feet). There are also 3 group campsites that can accommodate from 7-10 vehicles (up to 20 feet in length) and 40 people. Hike & bike campsites are also available.
Each campsite also has a paved parking pad, table, fire ring and pedestal BBQ. Check-in time is 3pm and check out is 12pm. A maximum number of 8 people per single site ($10.00 additional charge per person per night after 6 people). Maximum number of vehicles per single site is 2 ($10.00 additional charge for 2nd vehicle per night). Extra vehicle and person fees will be charged at the facility. Overflow parking is not available at Plaskett Creek Campground.
Amenities include drinking water (spigot), flush toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. There are no hookups or dump station. There are also hiking trails from the Sand Dollar Day Use area to the beach. The day use are is about a 1/2 mile drive from the campground. Cell service is not available.
Plaskett Creek – Area Recreation
Plaskett Creek is just south of San Dollar Beach, which is the largest sandy beach in the Big Sur area. Outdoor recreation includes biking, hiking, beach combing, surf fishing, swimming, body surfing, sunbathing, ocean kayaking, picnicking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing.
Other campgrounds in the area include Kirk Creek, Limekiln State Park and Hearst San Simeon State Park.

Can our fifth wheel 30 ft fit into campsites 20 or 21?

Campsite 20 can accommodate an RV/trailer up to 50 feet and campsite 21 – up to 45 feet.
Is the comment that campsite 21 and above can accommodate trailers up to 45 feet. Or is it just campsite 20 and 21 that allow longer trailers?

Plaskett Creek campground campsites can accommodate trailers/vehicles or RVs from 35 to 50 feet depending on the campsite. Campsite #21 – up to 45 feet. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, size and pricing for each site.
The rules state two vehicles per campsite. Does this include a pop trailer? Do you have overflow parking for another car? It also states Maximum 8 people but a 10.00 fee for after six people. Does this include children?

The two vehicles include a trailer / pop-up trailer. So if you had a car/truck and trailer – that would be 2 vehicles.
Limit of 2 vehicles per site; additional vehicles are not permitted.
Reservations can be made three days in advance. All single campsite reservations are good for 6 people and 1 vehicle.
Maximum number of people per single site is 8 ($10.00 additional charge per person per night after 6 people). Maximum number of vehicles per single site is 2 ($10.00 additional charge for 2nd vehicle per night). Extra vehicle and person fees will be charged at the facility.
Hi there, we’d like to tent camp for a few days in July. We’d like to stay within relative distance to the bathroom (but not too close!) and would like a flat site. Can you recommend a good site for us to choose?

There are a lot of nice large/flat campsites at Plaskett Creek Campground – and many fairly close (but not next to) a restroom. Check out sites 10, 14, 17, 19 and 39.

There are no hookups (partial or full) at Plaskett Creek State Park.
It is supposed to rain this weekend. Does site #27 have any trees to hook up tarps for cover?

From the photo it looks like there are a few big trees next to campsite 27, but not sure if they are close enough to rig a tarp/cover. You can view the photo HERE. You may also double check with the campground to see if rigging tarps are allowed: 805 434-1996.
Are there any sites on the creek? Hard to tell from the photos.

Not really. Campsites 6 and 8 are closest to ‘Plaskett Creek’, but still about 20-30 yards away. There’s another seasonal creek that flows through the campground (but heavily overgrown). Campsites 35, 36, 38 and 40 are really close to it.
Is it ok to arrive the next day of the day of start of reservation? For example, if my reservation starts Friday, is it ok to check-in on Saturday? Memorial Day weekend needed reservations to start on Friday, but we can only arrive on Saturday.

Per the Recreation.gov camping reservation policy:
Change and Cancellation Policies:
To ensure fairness, reservation arrival or departure dates may not be changed outside the 6 or 12 month booking window until 18 days after booking the reservation.
Camping/Day Use: A $10.00 service fee will apply if you change or cancel your reservation (including campsites, cabins, lookouts, group facilities, etc.). The $10.00 service fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
Cancel or change reservations through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
Late Cancellations:
Late cancellations are in most cases, those cancelled after 12:00 midnight (Eastern Time) two days before arrival.
Individual Campsites: A $10.00 service fee plus the first night’s use fee will be charged (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation) when a reservation is cancelled the day before or the day of arrival, except when the reservation is for a single night, then no service fee applies.
Cabins/Lookouts: A $10.00 service fee plus the first night’s cabin or lookout use fee will be charged when a reservation for a cabin or lookout is cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date. Cancellations for single night’s use will not be assessed a service fee.
Group Overnight and Day Use Facility: A $10.00 service will be charged plus the first night’s use fee when a reservation for a group overnight facility is cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date. Cancellations for a single night’s use will not be assessed a service fee.
Customers cancelling a group day use facility reservation within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date will forfeit the total day use fee (but will not pay a service fee).
No Shows:
Reserved campsites and group overnight facilities will be held until check-out time on the day following your scheduled arrival. Group day use facilities will be held until check-in time on your scheduled arrival date.
Cabins, Lookouts, and Group Day Use Facilities: No shows, early departures, or cancellations after the scheduled arrival date are not entitled to a refund.
Campsites and Group Overnight Facilities: If you do not arrive at the campground or group overnight facility and do not cancel your reservation by check out time on the day after your scheduled arrival date, you are considered a no show. A $20.00 service fee applies and you will forfeit the first night’s use fee.

2. Are any sites electric?
3. How long is the fire restriction on for? We usually take wood.

Plaskett Creek campground does not have any hookups (electric, water or sewage). The campsites can accommodate RVs and trailers from 35 to 50 feet, so you’re 14 foot vintage trailer should fit fine. You can view the Plaskett Creek campground page and photos of each campsite to double check on the site you have reserved. We’re not sure about the fire restrictions, but most campgrounds now require you purchase wood at the campground (if available). You can call the campground directly at 805-434-1996.

Hi, I made a reservation here and tried to use my annual pass to get discount and I can’t figure out where my pass ID is. I typed the numbers beside the bar code and it says invalid pass ID. Will I still be able to get my discount if I already booked it??? Also where can I find a map of the campground can seem to find one. Thank you.

I have tried for a second time(we also visited the region in 2017) to reserve a site on Plaskett or Kirk Creek campground for our RV holiday. Is there any change to get a site from 30-31 July 2019? You’re best bet is to keep checking availability at Plaskett Creek or Kirk Creek to see if something becomes available. Click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, pricing and make a reservation. And it’s tough to say if any walk-in sites will be available. Can group site #2 accommodate my 24 trailer.

One of the parking spaces can accommodate a 24 foot trailer at Plaskett Creek Group campsite #2, but you’ll need to park your other vehicle in another parking spot. Reservations are required for group campsites.
I was wondering about the spacing of water within the campsites. It looked like 6 and 8 were pretty close to one, but I did not see what looked like a water spigot in any of the other photos. What camping sights are closest to the drinking water?

Sorry, we don’t know exactly where the water spigots are located at Plaskett Creek Campground. We did look around for maps that may indicate their locations, but no luck.

Plaskett Creek campsites 24, 25, 26, 27 are away from the main road/entrance, near a restroom, and they are close to each other. Those would probably be your best bet.

The driveway length and maximum vehicle length for Plaskett Creek campsite #35 is 38 feet, so your 24 foot RV will fit fine!

Snow and rain across Los Padres National Forest have provided sufficient moisture to reduce fire restrictions on the forest effective immediately.
Under the reduced fire restrictions, campfires and charcoal barbeques will be allowed in all areas of the Forest. A California CA Permit is required to build a campfire outside of a designated Campfire Use Site. CA Campfire Permits are available for free download from the Forest website (http://www.fs.usda.gov/lpnf).

For Plaskett Creek campground you are allowed two vehicles per site and one is included in campsite fee with an extra charge for 2nd vehicle. Registered campers can park a 3rd vehicle in the beach parking lot for an additional fee.

Plasket Creek campsites 36 and 37 are the largest – about the same size. Both are big campsites.

Good question and we’re not quite sure. Because of the trees and bushes, most probably won’t, but a few may have partial ocean views. We think your best bet for Plaskett Creek campsites with partial ocean views are 41, 42 and 43. Sites 25-29 may also have a peak of the ocean.

You’re going to love Plaskett Creek camnpground! Your campsite (#24) is really nice too. It can accommodate up to 2 vehicles and 8 people. Driveway length is 41 feet.
And there’s plenty of room for a 6-person and 4-person tent in that campsite. Have a great time!
Is it possible to charge an e-bike battery at Plaskett Creek? All that is needed is access to a power outlet. Are there any power outlets in the campground?

Pretty sure there are not any campsites with ocean views (because of trees and topography), but maybe someone else may know for sure and can comment.
Beautiful campground. Our only issue was that the area is infested with ticks! My dogs picked up ticks in the campground when we were there December 2022 🙁
also while we were there the flush toilets were closed, porta potties only. Other than that, very nice.

That’s a tough one. Since you’re only going to have a few vehicles, I’d say it’ll be okay since you can angle the 24′ RV. With that said, the final call really comes down to the camp host and/or ranger. I doubt you’ll get anyone to pick up the phone, but you might try calling the campground: 805 434-1996
We LOVE this incredible campsite. I do, however, have a question. We’re bringing two families to a group site at Plaskett Creek in a couple weeks, and wanted to purchase some rather expensive, sturdy canvas picnic table covers to put over the tables there, but need to know the dimensions. The campsite tables at Plaskett Creek campground are 30 inches wide by 8 feet long. Have a great time!
Beautiful campground with large sites. Nice trails to hike on the bluffs on the beach across Hwy 1 from the campground. The trail to the beach is severely eroded so we decided not to attempt to go down there. The flush toilets were working when we were there but there was no potable water so bring all of your drinking/washing water.
Can multiple 20ft camp trailers fit in group site 1 parking area? Or is the group site only meant for tent camping?
