Preacher Meadow Campground has 45 single-family (first-come, first-serve) campsites set in a forested area on a hill above Swift Creek in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The campground is also open for equestrian camping.
Campsites are spacious and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 45 feet). Each site also has a table, stone fire ring and Klamath oven. Campground amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.
Visitors can download the recreation.gov app prior to arrival to take advantage of the Scan & Pay option at the campground. There is also a Iron Ranger on site that you can pay with cash or check.
Other campgrounds in the area include Tannery, Bushytail, Minersville, Hayward Flat and Alpine View.
This quiet and serene campground attracts hikers and horseback riders as it is near the popular Swift Creek trailhead and many persons stay there before and after their hikes. Trinity Lake is also about 6 miles away and offers great fishing, boating, kayaking, paddle-boarding, swimming and water sports. A public boat ramp is located approximately 6 miles away at Bowerman (dependent on water level). Other activities in the area include mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
