Richardson Grove State Park campground has 170 single-family campsites in a beautiful forest of old growth redwoods. The South Fork Eel River also passed through the park. There are also 6 cabins, group and hike/bike campsites also available. The campsites are in three camping areas (Madrone, Huckleberry and Oak Flat). The Oak Flat camping area (sites 70 to 170) is closed indefinitely and is not expected to reopen for at least a year.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers and a campfire center. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill.
Outdoor recreation includes hiking among an old growth redwood forest, swimming, canoeing, boating, kayaking, picnicking, fishing, biking, wildlife viewing and camping.
Humboldt Redwoods State Park is just 21 miles away. It has three campgrounds: Albee Creek, Burlington and Hidden Springs. Benbow Lake SRA is also in the area.
