Rocky Point campground has 10 single-family campsites and is located on the shores of Utica Reservoir in the Stanislaus National Forest. All sites are first-come, first-serve and set among large boulders and tall trees.
The campground is usually open early June to late September. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Campsites 2, 3, 4 and 5 are walk-to. Each site also has a gravel parking area, table, fire ring and grill. Food storage lockers (bear boxes) are also available.
Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Water is not available. There’s also a small, primitive dirt boat launch at Union East campground. Cell service is good in the area.
Both Utica and Union Reservoirs offer boating (5 mph or less), canoeing, kayaking, fishing and swimming. Utica Reservoir does not allow motorized watercraft. Other popular activities in the area include hiking, mountain biking, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
Other campgrounds in the area include Spicer Reservoir, Stanislaus River, Sandy Flat, Union Reservoir East and Union Reservoir West.
