San Luis Creek Overview
San Luis Creek Campground is located on the shore of the San Luis Reservoir and has 53 campsites with water and electric hookups. Group camping is also available.
The campground has very little shade and is in an open area susceptible to wind. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets, trash collection and an RV dump station. Each campsite also has a paved parking spur (up to 30 feet), table fire ring and grill. Cell service is fair in the area. Pets/dogs are allowed only in the campground and must be on a leash.
Two group campgrounds are available at the San Luis Creek Area along the shoreline of O’Neill Forebay. Both sites offer shade ramadas, tables, fire rings, flush toilets, and hot-water showers ($). Group Camp A can accommodate 60 people and 15 vehicles. Group Camp B can accommodate 30 people and 10 vehicles. Boats must be removed from the water by sunset. These group campsites are available only by reservation.

Can 2 tents fit in one campsite?
Hi Jeremy,
That depends on the campsite. Most campsites at San Luis Creek campground can accommodate two tents. Have a great trip!
Hi is there an age policy at your campground?
Hi Jose,
There is no age policy at San Luis Creek campground, other than there must be an adult staying at the campsite. Minors can not camp by themselves without an adult.
Will swimming be possible at todays arrival?
Hi Claudia,
The California State Parks & Recreation site is still urging caution and to avoid water contact at San Luis Reservoir due to an Algal Bloom. However, that notice was dated June 28, 2019. Most likely the Bloom is still causing problems with warmer weather. You might want to try to call directly for an update:(209) 826-1197
I was able to find a hook-up campsite that is available. What exactly does hook-up mean, I don’t have an RV. I am just looking for a tent campsite. Is it okay to book a hook-up (E/W) campsite?
Hi Vanitha,
A hookup campsite means that there is electric and water available to ‘hookup’ to an RV or trailer. You can tent camp in that site as well.
Do you have any photos of the group sites?
Hi Mark,
Unfortunately we didn’t get photos of the group campsites but I’ll put those on the ‘to get’ list. Sorry about that.
Do you know if you need to be over 18 to enter the beach and to camp there?
Hi Manuel,
At least one person occupying the campsite needs to be 18 years old at San Luis Creek Campground / San Luis Reservoir SRA.
