Santa Margarita Lake Campground is a San Luis Obispo County facility and has 60 standard campsites (no hookups) in four different camping areas (Coyote, Roadrunner, Grey Pine and Osprey). Roadrunner campsites are tent only. Primitive boat in campsites are also available at Sapwi and Khus campgrounds. Group camping is also available.
Osprey campsites (1-10) are located near the lake and the other camping areas are further away. Some Coyote campsites have views of the water. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. None have hookups.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush and vault toilets, a swimming pool, amphitheater, picnic areas, marina/store, boat ramp, an equestrian day staging area and multi-use trails. Firewood is also available for sale at the campground.
Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming (swimming pool only), hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
You may also like Morro Bay State Park down by the coast. Cerro Alto is also about an hour away.

Will the fire restriction be in effect for the entire summer?
Hi Mike,
Not sure if fire restrictions will change at Santa Margarita Lake campground. Here are the current fire restrictions. You may want to call the park/campground to double check:
Temporary fire restrictions are in effect Lopez Lake and Santa Margarita Lake.
Allowances: Portable lanterns, gas stoves and gas barbecues in developed camp areas are allowed; they must have a shut-off valve with the ability to immediately extinguish any flame. Traeger type enclosed wood chips and pellets for cooking are also allowed. Propane fueled fire rings are allowed in developed campsites only and must have a shut-off valve with the ability to immediately extinguish any flame.
Not Permitted: Wood or charcoal fires are not allowed.
