Skillman Horse Overview

Skillman Horse Campground has 11 campsites and specializes in equestrian camping in the Tahoe National Forest. It is also open to campers w/o horses. Campsite 4 has two corrals and sites 7, 9, 13 and 15 have one corral each. In addition to the corrals, water troughs and hitching racks are also available.

Each single site can accommodate up to six people, four horses and two vehicles. A group area is made up of five smaller sites that can accommodate 36 people altogether, as well as 24 horses and 12 vehicles. Large trucks and trailers will require the space of multiple cars. Cell service is poor in the area.

The campground is also near Nevada City and three historic mining towns. Outdoor recreation in the area includes horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

White Cloud Campground is also just 4 miles away. It does not offer horse camping, but it has 46 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs.
