Death Valley National Park’s Stovepipe Wells is a large, first-come first-serve campground with 190 campsites primarily for RVs and trailers, but campers can also pitch a tent. There are also about 14 sites with electric hookups. This is basically a large, flat parking lot type of set up. There are some tables and fire pits, but not every campsite has them.

Amenities includes drinking water, flush toilets and an RV sanitation station (dump station). There is also a convenience store/gift shop, motel, cabins and a restaurant/bar across the highway. Cell service is fair in the area.

Stovepipe Wells – Area Recreation & Activities

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes are nearby and offer miles of hiking and sand sledding. Death Valley National Park also offers geological wonders and a desert environment that will amaze and befuddle. Ranging from -196 to over 12,000 feet in elevation, the park offers a variety of outdoor activities including visiting old ghost towns and historic sites, sand sledding, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, stargazing, photography and even golfing. It’s a big park, so plan on staying at least a few days to see the sites!

Alternate campgrounds at Death Valley National Park include Furnace Creek, Texas Springs and Sunset.
